Weekend Yoga & Meditation Retreat is a perfect opportunity to take a break, escape the daily routine and refresh your body and mind by practising various asana, pranayama and meditation techniques. It is suitable for all levels – yoga beginners and also experience practitioners. During 3 days, you will learn different techniques of Sun Salutations, get insight into yoga philosophy and experience all benefits of meditation. Each day you will start with chanting mantras, breathing exercises and traditional hatha yoga class. During the day you will have enough time to explore and enjoy the Rishikesh lifestyle, deepen your asana practice in the afternoon yoga class, and end the day with meditation. After this weekend, you will have better understanding of yoga and feel a deeper connection with your higher self.

In Yoga & Meditation Retreat, you will start each day with chanting mantras, breathing exercises and traditional hatha yoga class. During the day you will have enough time to explore and enjoy the Rishikesh lifestyle, deepen your asana practice in the afternoon yoga class, and end the day with meditation. After this retreat, you will have better understanding of yoga and feel a deeper connection with your higher self.

All classes are taught by Dr. Jitendra Das and his assistant yoga teachers

Weekend Yoga & Meditation Retreat Rishikesh India : Training Requirements

To be eligible to attend the intensive Yoga & Meditation Retreat, we have established prerequisites to help create the groups, that are able to work together for 2 weeks of intensive yoga journey. This is a journey of personal and professional development that builds on the practitioner's previous experience. It is easier and more comfortable to guide trainees in a yoga session if they have previous experience. We highly recommend to all applicants, to have at least 1 year of regular yoga practice.

The requirements of Weekend Yoga & Meditation Retreat Rishikesh India program follows a tight schedule where almost each of the 5 to 6 training hours in the day are assigned to some aspect of yoga. You could find the training intensive but enlightening. Depending on the yoga school the mornings can begin as early as 6:00 a.m. with meditation followed by some yoga postures and maybe some classes or lectures in philosophy or anatomy.

Weekend Yoga & Meditation Retreat Rishikesh India : Course Syllabus

Asana: learn about basic asanas (postures) including their different levels and variations, from beginner to advanced level. In each asana you will learn proper adjustments, alignments, techniques, corrections, contra-indications, physical and psychic awareness, benefits, etc.

Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutation): learn the 12 positions of sun salutations, their variations, points of concentration, breathing and mantras.

Pranayama: learn main types of Pranayama 'breathing' techniques - Anuloma-Viloma, Nadishodhana, Ujjai, Bhramari, Shitali, Sitkari, Bhastrika and Kapalbhati.

Bandha: learn the practice of 3 bandhas - energy locks in the body - Mula bandha, Jalandhara bandha, Uddiyana bandha and Maha bandha.

Kriya: learn and practice Shatkriya "six body cleansing methods": Dhauti, Basti, Neti, Nauli, Tratak and Kapalbhati.

Mudras: learn and practice main yogic mudras (gestures) according to Shatchakra and energy channels.

Meditation : learn and practice major meditation techniques.

Mantra: learn to chant and present main vedic mantras.

Philosophy, lifestyle and ethics: We will explain and discuss the history and philosophy of yoga, according to Patanjali Yoga Sutras and Gheranda Samhita. Learn about the 8 limbs of yoga and their use in modern yogic lifestyle.

​​Weekend Yoga & Meditation Retreat practitioner should follow the below code of conduct:

  • Discipline is an integral part of the training program and so the course routine must be strictly observed.

  • Disrespect to rules and regulations could result in termination of studentship with no refund of fee.

  • Restricted dress code is white yoga trouser, T-shirt and socks, jacket, jumper and shawl.

  • Absenting oneself from the scheduled program without prior permission of the teacher or manager concerned would be construed as a gross breach of discipline.

  • A student must intimate in advance if they intend to forgo a meal so that there is no wastage of food.

  • The Yoga Foundation does not make arrangements for guests of students. Any activity that is not related to the course is not permitted.

  • Ensure you are on time for class or you will not be permitted to enter any class once it has commenced.

  • Before departure from the Yoga Foundation students must all dues and return all library books.

  • Smoking, alcohol, Paan masala or any kind in any form drugs are not permitted during the training.

At Patanjali International Yoga Foundation (PIYF), Rishikesh, we provide accommodation and other facilities to our yoga students to make their stay comfortable and healthy.

  • Single / shared accommodation with attached bathroom and hot water.

  • Please keep in mind, that this is a yoga ashram and not a hotel, so we provide all ashram facilities.

  • Upon your arrival, we provide soap and toilet paper, the rest of the time you need to buy it.

  • For your personal safety and security, please bring a padlock for your room.

  • We provide clean bed sheets and towel once a week.

  • We provide shared kettle, iron and hair dryer on the each floor.

  • We provide a blanket, but during the winter we recommend you to bring a sleeping bag.
